Previously, John held the position of Sr. Manager of Subscriber Retention Analysis, Segmentation and Optimization within CRM Marketing. Prior to SiriusXM, John held positions within Marketing, IT and Project Management across Subscriber Businesses and Financial Firms – most recently as a Manager of Database Marketing at an Agency where he supported Verizon Wireless National Acquisition efforts – overseeing implementation of a new Marketing Database, Campaign Management Platform and Enterprise BI Reporting Solution.

Matei Zaharia

Assistant Professor at Stanford University, Chief Technologist at Databricks

Matei Zaharia is an assistant professor of computer science at Stanford University and Chief Technologist at Databricks. He got his PhD at UC Berkeley in 2013, during which time he started the Apache Spark computing engine as well as Apache Mesos and several other projects in large-scale cluster computing. Today, Matei’s research focuses on infrastructure for usable machine learning at the Stanford DAWN lab. Matei’s work was recognized through the 2014 ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award, the VMware Systems Research Award, and an NSF CAREER Award.

Brian Granger

Associate Professor, Cal Poly,
Co-Founder Project Jupyter

Brian Granger is an associate professor of physics and data science at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. His research focuses on building open-source tools for interactive computing, data science, and data visualization. Brian is a leader of the IPython project, co-founder of Project Jupyter, co-founder of the Altair project for statistical visualization, and an active contributor to a number of other open-source projects focused on data science in Python. He is an advisory board member of NumFOCUS and a faculty fellow of the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Along with other leaders of Project Jupyter, he is a winner of the 2017 ACM Software System Award.

Victor Lund

President and Chief Executive Officer, Teradata

Victor L. Lund has served on Teradata’s Board of Directors since 2007, and has served as chair of its Audit Committee. Previously, Lund was the non-executive chairman of the board of DemandTec, Inc., a publicly-held, on-demand applications company, from December 2006 until February 2012.

 

Prior, Lund was non-executive chairman of the board of Mariner Health Care, Inc., a long-term health care services company, from 2002 to 2004, and he was vice chairman of Albertson’s, Inc. from 1999 to 2002. Lund was also chairman of the board of American Stores Company from 1995 until 1999 and its chief executive officer from 1992 until 1999. During his 22-year career with American Stores, Lund also held many operating executive positions. He also serves as a director of Service Corporation International and has served on a number of publicly-traded company boards, including Del Monte Foods Company and Delta Airlines.

Oliver Ratzesberger

Chief Operating Officer, Teradata

Oliver Ratzesberger is chief operating officer of Teradata Corporation, reporting to Vic Lund, president and chief executive officer. Mr. Ratzesberger has global operating responsibility for Teradata’s operations and leads the company’s strategies for go-to-market, products, and services.

Mr. Ratzesberger has an extensive background in analytics, big data and software development.  Prior to Teradata, he worked for both Fortune 500 and early-stage companies, holding positions of increasing responsibility in software development and IT, including leading the expansion of analytics at eBay.

A pragmatic visionary, Oliver frequently speaks and writes about leveraging data and analytics to improve business outcomes. His new book with co-author Mohanbir Sawhney, “The Sentient Enterprise: The Evolution of Decision Making,” was published in 2017.

Oliver earned his engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from HTL Steyr in Austria, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. He lives in San Diego with his wife and two daughters.

Stephen Brobst

Chief Technology Officer, Teradata

Stephen Brobst is the chief technology officer (CTO) for Teradata Corporation. He is widely regarded as a leading expert in data warehousing and joined the Teradata team in October of 1999. Previously, Brobst successfully launched three start-up companies related to high-end database products and services in the data warehousing and e-business marketplaces.

These businesses included: Tanning Technology Corporation (IPO on NASDAQ), NexTek Solutions (acquired by IBM) and Strategic Technologies & Systems (acquired by NCR).

Stephen also taught graduate courses at Boston University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in both the MBA program at the Sloan School of Management and in the computer science departments of both universities. He received the instructor of the year award for two of his last five years in the MET Computer Science department at Boston University and continues as a frequent guest lecturer at MIT and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Stephen performed Master's and Ph.D. research at MIT, where his dissertation focused on load-balancing and resource allocation for massively parallel computing architectures. He also holds an MBA with joint course and thesis work at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Brobst completed his undergraduate work in electrical engineering and computer science in just three years at University of California, Berkeley, and was awarded the highest honor given to a graduating senior in the College of Engineering (Bechtel Engineering Award). Brobst is an elected member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, New York Academy of Sciences, University of California, Berkeley Alumni Scholars Association, and the California Scholarship Federation honor societies. He has served as an advisor to the National Academy of Sciences in the area of IT workforce development and also served in Barack Obama’s first term as a member of the President’s Innovation and Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC), a working group of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).

Stephen Brobst was recently ranked the number four U.S. chief technology officer for 2014. ExecRank screened more than 2,500 Chief Technology Officers from among more than 10,000 CTOs in the United States. The top three CTOs named for 2014 hold positions with Amazon.com, Tesla Motors, and Intel®.

Stephen has authored numerous journal and conference papers in the fields of data management and parallel computing environments and is an internationally recognized practitioner in the area of breakthrough systems implementation. He co-authored Building a Data Warehouse for Decision Support, published by Prentice Hall PTR and is working on a book on Active Data Warehousing® for the real-time enterprise. He has published dozens of technical articles in Intelligent Enterprise Magazine, The International Journal of High Speed Computing, Communications of the ACM, The Journal of Data Warehousing, Enterprise Systems Journal, DM Review, Database Programming and Design, and many others. Brobst has been on the faculty of the Data Warehousing Institute since 1996 and teaches courses related to Real-Time Data Warehousing, High Performance Data Warehouse Design, Data Visualization, and Emerging Technologies in Data Warehousing.

Tim Henry

Senior Vice President, Strategic Offering Management, Teradata

Tim Henry is Teradata’s senior vice president of Strategic Offering Management (SOM), reporting to Oliver Ratzesberger, Chief Operating Officer. Tim is responsible for offering management across our products and services, aligning market and customer needs with our internal investment priorities. His team brings a customer-centric approach to developing and executing against our strategy, including portfolio management, user experience design, pricing, and go-to-market approaches.

Tim joined Teradata from Bain & Company, where he was a leader in their Technology, Media, and Telecom practice. Tim’s most recent experience has been supporting Teradata in the development of our Teradata Everywhere™ product strategy, portable pricing model, and Strategic Offering Management capability design.

Previously, Tim led transformational consulting engagements with Fortune 500 companies on a variety of topics, including product portfolio strategy, product design, pricing, and customer insights. Earlier in his career, Tim held a variety of product management positions in the video game industry, most notably at Activision.

Based in San Diego, Tim holds a Bachelor in Economics from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard.

Reema Poddar

SVP, Product Development, Teradata

Reema Poddar is the Senior Vice President of Product Development for Teradata, reporting to Oliver Ratzesberger, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer. She is accountable for a team of 1,400 and contributes to the overall strategic direction of the company from a product, financial, business and operational perspective; including managing all aspects of engineering and engineering operations, overseeing the company’s software and hardware development teams.

Reema is a seasoned executive with 23+ years of experience in the software industry across verticals -Industrial Automation, Energy Management, Healthcare, Power & water, Oil &Gas and Aviation. She is a thought leader with notable track record delivering Digital Transformation & Innovation with expertise in areas such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Big Data Analytics, and Cloud Computing. She is a leader with proven history of recruiting and developing top-talent, delivering organizational transformation and cultural change.

Most recently, Reema served as the COO for AdFender Inc,, a security software startup that focuses on online privacy, eliminating Malvertisements and serves as the first line of defense to Ransomware. Prior to that, she held executive positions with GE. In her 17 years at GE, she led core software technology teams responsible for thought leadership and execution of the digitalization strategy. She was responsible for identifying and executing on growth levers that leverage IT, Operations, Security, and GTM functions across GE’s Product and Application portfolio. At GE Digital, a division of GE focused on transforming industrial businesses into digital industrial businesses through software and data analytics, she laid the foundation, processes and practices for Health Care Cloud and Asset Performance Management software, SaaS offerings on PREDIX platform for Industrial Internet Initiatives that delivered substantial year over year growth. She has a unique profile that spans Global Engineering, Technical Product Management and Professional Services expertise. Prior to GE, she was the technology leader for Intellution. Inc., a startup business that GE acquired.

She is very passionate about talent development and strongly believes in co-creating high- performance organizations with her leadership team. She strongly believes that high employee satisfaction leads to high customer satisfaction. At GE, Reema implemented, led and supported diversity initiatives, “GE Girls,” GEWN Including “SDLP” a GE-wide program to hire 20,000 female technologists by 2020. She has created and led programs in local community to support women in STEM through affinity groups and building strong partnership with local Schools and Berkeley University. She is the recipient of several technology innovation and industry awards within as well as outside of GE.

Reema has a Masters in Computer Science and a Masters in Electronics.

Jacek Becla

Vice President of Technology and Innovation, Teradata

Jacek Becla is the Vice President of Technology and Innovation. Jacek is responsible for Global Architecture; Technology, Research, and Innovation; Artificial Intelligence/Data Science, Product Security, and Technical Communications. Jacek has been at Teradata over a year now. He is driving the AI/Data Science teams to make our customers and our products smarter. He is putting into place the Innovation Framework that will drive innovation into the hands of every employee. He leads the top of the technical funnel research and assessments of emerging technologies as well as academic research and innovation. Jacek is also responsible for assuring the Global Architecture and product security are baked into the DNA of Teradata’s products. Prior to Teradata, Jacek worked at Stanford for 20 years where he was the founder of the global XLDB (Extremely Large Database) Conference, co-founder of SciDB as well as running the data management program for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) program.
