Nov 09, 2017 #TDPARTNERS17 Roundup
It was another incredible year for the Teradata PARTNERS Conference! With so much to see and do, it’s tough to wrap it all up in a single post – but here are the highlights:
1) Master Series sessions.
Sunday kicked off with our 3-hour Master Series sessions. These intense events were created for advanced practitioners to take a deep dive into topics like advanced analytics, emerging technology, and Teradata database architecture.
2) Powerful insights from Joi Ito.
Our first general session began with a gorgeous aerobatic display and inspirational video followed by keynote speeches from Teradata senior executives and visionary entrepreneur Joi Ito. As Director of the MIT Media Lab, Ito shared insights gleaned from his work there in exploring cutting-edge technologies and their potential impact on our culture. Ito touched on AI, machine learning, extended intelligence, and other disruptive new technologies like Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and how they may shape our world.
3) The launch of The Sentient Enterprise.
Teradata Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer Oliver Ratzesberger gave two conference keynotes that focused on insights from his new book, The Sentient Enterprise. He discussed how embracing a more agile and open organization is critical to the future of enterprises today. Companies need to behave more like organisms and come together to form a sentient enterprise – a new, proactive model for organizing companies at any scale. Ratzesberger’s book signing and Q&A were also a big draw on Wednesday morning.
4) Networking receptions ruled!
While the Welcome Reception, New Attendee Reception, and Dessert Receptions are mainstays of the conference, we had several new receptions this year. Our topic-focused AI Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Hybrid Cloud receptions brought together many like-minded practitioners to network in a low-key environment.
5) Innovative meet-ups with Braindate.
This was our first year partnering with Braindate, a networking application that makes it easy to connect with others interested in speaking about topics of mutual interest. Attendees used the app to select times and topics and chose their preferred networking partner.
6) Beds, blankets and bears with Teradata Cares.
At the Teradata Cares booth, attendees volunteered their time to help foster children in need. Participants stuffed bears, made beds, and crafted blankets. All final projects completed at PARTNERS were donated to the Extraordinary Families organization and other local foster care agencies.
7) The magic in the Expo Hall.
Our sponsors and vendors delivered exceptional experiences and demonstrated groundbreaking products. Entertainer David McCreary was onsite baffling audiences with magic tricks. In the Buzz Lounge, attendees could immerse themselves in VR experiences and even battle it out with their colleagues in our Robot Challenge.
8) Breakout sessions for every interest.
We had over 200 breakout sessions available to attendees this year. Attendees got real-world advice and case studies from some of the world’s most brilliant and innovative leaders in business, tech, and data science.
9) Closing ceremonies with Jason Silva.
The conference was capped off with an inspirational keynote from Jason Silva, digital storyteller and Emmy-award winning host of National Geographic’s Brain Games. A self-proclaimed “Digital Philosopher,” Silva discussed how technology is the embodiment and realization of human creativity. He addressed strategies for accepting, coping, and even thriving in our fast-paced world of disruption and transformation by understanding how to break free of our linear-limited minds to embrace what’s next.
10) Rocking out with 3 Doors Down.
The Gala Event at the House of Blues in Anaheim rocked! Thanks to our special musical guest 3 Doors Down, who delivered a strong performance that capped off another exceptional year at PARTNERS.
11) What comes next?
After the conference wrapped up, we were already looking ahead to Teradata PARTNERS Conference 2018. Be sure to save the dates: October 14-18, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
